Overview

JD Energy’s beginnings in the 1980’s as a coal forecasting firm inherently required a deep understanding of the electricity sector, as that segment accounts for more than 90% of coal’s demand. Over the years, our firm’s involvement in other aspects of electricity forecasting have grown to the point where we now offers discrete electricity forecasting services and products, some produced solely by JD Energy and others in tandem with affiliated companies.

Publications

Coal in the Electric Power Industry - This is a series of publications covering plant-by-plant reports on coal-fired power generation in all electricity regions. For each plant, we provide narrative descriptions covering topics of capacity, plant procurement activity, transportation  options, and clean air strategy. Forecasts of plant coal purchases by type of coal and pollution control equipment are furnished in Excel spreadsheet format.

Nuclear Power Outlook – This annual report provides an assessment of key issues affecting nuclear power as well as a unit-by-unit forecast of generation extending out 20+ years.
